Towards second gate

On way upwards to Second gate of Mehrangarh Fort, which is at perpendicular to the main pathway. This was strategically to prevent elephants from getting momentum while striking at the fort gates. Further, there were iron spikes on the gate making the fort impregnable.

The courtyard

Taking the steps towards the first courtyard where directly opposite to the steps lie the coronation throne on a white platform. The surrounding buildings have perforated screen “jaali” through which the ladies and royal family insiders can view courtyard proceedings. The coronation of a new Rathore prince with all royal pompousness and glory is held in this courtyard.
